Meet Rohan, the man behind Scarfe’s Electronics! Since founding the family business in 1986, Rohan has thrived on connecting with community, believing that business is all about people.
When he’s not managing the store, you can catch him on the radio, where he hosts a weekly show on 100.7 Riverland Life FM, which is run entirely by volunteers. His show features a mix of music and comedy, and he kicks off each day with a weather forecast at 6.45am.
Rohan is also the treasurer of the Loxton Aero Club and loves flying a Piper Cherokee. Inspired by his airline pilot brother-in-law, he finds freedom in the skies over the beautiful Riverland landscape.
Meet Michael from Loxton Smash Repairs and Station Officer at Loxton MFS, driven by a passion for helping others.
Growing up on a farm near Loxton, Michael trained as a panel beater and spray painter, eventually joining Loxton Smash Repairs. After eight years with the business, he took a leap of faith and bought it 12 years ago. Now, he and wife Ann run it together, guiding car accident victims through repairs and insurance claims with care and compassion.
When he’s not in the workshop, Michael is on call 24/7 as a firefighter. With 17 years of service, he leads a team of 14, who feel like a second family to him. Whether responding to emergencies or supporting the Riverland community, he’s always ready to lend a hand.
He doesn’t stop there – Michael and his team are a big part of Loxton’s community events! From delivering Santa to his Workshop on Light Up Day to participating in the Loxton Mardi Gras, and even showing kids the fire truck at school visits, he’s always finding ways to give back.
Meet Tracy, a dedicated supporter of local businesses since 2022, helping them simplify their books and systems with Proud Books. She knows just how busy life can get, juggling multiple volunteer roles at the Loxton North Football Club.
What started as a casual water runner has turned into roles as treasurer, secretary, registrar, organiser, and photographer. It’s no wonder she was named Club Person of the Year in 2022!
Tracy’s love for the football club runs deep, because it’s also where she found her soulmate. Fun fact: she and her husband Don actually tied the knot right on the oval!
Meet Jason, a paramedic, first-aid trainer, and basketball coach making a difference in our community.
When St John’s withdrew their services from our town, Jason stepped up knowing the importance of first aid in rural areas where ambulances aren’t always nearby. Using his experience from the Loxton Ambulance Station, he’s been training locals through AJ First Aid, empowering them to “help people help people” with life-saving skills.
When he’s not teaching first aid, you’ll find him on the basketball court coaching teams. Jason believes sports build more than just coordination – they also foster teamwork, confidence, and commitment. His goal (pun intended)… to make every young player feel part of the club and stay in the game as they grow.
Meet Chloe – one of our community’s young achievers.
Not only does she own her own homewares store It feels like home, but she’s also the secretary of the Loxton North Netball Club.
Chloe’s love for interior design grew during her childhood, where she lived in 16 different houses during her parents’ renovation projects. Now, she’s turned her passion into a thriving business!
When she’s not curating her homewares collection, you’ll find her on the netball court. She joined the Loxton North Netball Club in 2016 and has since become an integral part of the team, playing centre for B-Grade, serving on the social committee, and taking on the role of secretary.
Meet Caleb the legend keeping the Riverland pest-free by day and building boxing champions by night! As a pest technician for Murray Pest Control, he protects our local businesses, ensuring they stay safe and hygienic.
Outside of work, Caleb’s heart is in boxing. He first fell in love with the sport for the way it improved his health, focus, and coordination – he even competed for a while! Now, he’s found his passion in coaching for Top Team Fitness & Boxing, cheering on Loxton’s up-and-coming boxers from the corner of the ring.
But the most rewarding part of Caleb’s journey is supporting people with disabilities through the NDIS, whether it’s with strength training or simply going for a walk.
Fun fact: His coach, Phil Goodes, went to the Paris Olympics as President of Boxing Australia, where he helped support our Australian boxers!
